Shedding some light

Last Saturday night, Islanders took part in a nationwide campaign on energy conservation. Lights Out Martha's Vineyard was the Island's sector of Earth Hour 2008, where people across the world pledged to reduce their electricity emissions.

To show their support, Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary hosted a guided nature walk on Saturday evening as part of Lights Out, Che's Lounge held a candlelight concert, and Bangkok Cuisine served dinner by candlelight.

Mirror mirror on the wall

Last weekend, seventh grade girls and eighth grade boys were treated to a day of health and fitness (and beauty tips for the girls) at the Vineyard Tennis Center Workout and Spa.

On Saturday, the boys worked on strength training and cardio machines. On Sunday, the girls made a salad for lunch, took a fitness class, received massages, and got fitness and beauty tips.

The girls' day is funded by a grant from the Alexandra M. Gagnon Foundation. The Workout Center sponsors the boys' day.
