Carol was born in Detroit and spent her youth in Birmingham and Ann Arbor, Mich., summering on Chappaquiddick. She received a B.A. from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1976. She became a permanent resident of Martha's Vineyard in 1980 after periods spent residing in California and Boston.

Carol will be remembered by all who knew her for her vivacious, fun-loving personality and warm, friendly nature. She was a lover of the arts and fashion and was devoted to her home and garden. Most of all she will be remembered for the large number of friends and admirers she leaves on the Vineyard and across the country.

A memorial service on Martha's Vineyard will be held in the summer on a date to be announced.
