Thrifty style
The "Spring Collection," a free fashion show and tea hosted by Martha's Vineyard Community Services, is being held on Monday, May 5, at 2 pm at the Tisbury Senior Center. Nibble petit sandwiches and sip tea while watching models parade in the latest thrift store couture. A trunk show and sale will follow. Call 508-696-4205 to reserve a seat.

Bedtime stories
The West Tisbury library held its annual sleepover last Thursday, April 24, during school vacation week. The elementary school children set up sleeping bags among bookshelves and in the reading areas, enjoyed their own books, and ate pizza for dinner. Library staff Nelia Decker and Colleen Morris oversaw the students.
E-I-E-I-O
This Saturday, the FARM Institute in Edgartown begins their Wee Farmer Program for children age two to four, accompanied with an adult. From 10 to 11:30 am, FARM educator Mary Baker leads the class exploring the Friendship Garden, meeting baby animals, telling stories, and much more. The program is $15, and returns again on June 7. Pet project
Last Sunday, April 27, at the First Congregational Church of West Tisbury, pets and their owners gathered for the annual Blessing of the Animals. Dogs of all breeds, sizes, and dispositions seemed on their best behavior as the Rev. Terry Newberry welcomed them and offered blessing. Everyone agreed it was a howling success.
Big shots
This Saturday, the Town of Tisbury offers a rabies clinic for cats and dogs from 11 am to 1 pm. Held at the Town Hall Annex, the clinic is free for Tisbury residents and $10 for non-residents. Schedule an appointment by calling 508-696-4290. Walk-ins are welcome on a first come, first served basis with priority to those with appointments.

Fresh fare
In an effort to meet their merchants, Island Food Products holds a food show every year. Held at Lola's Restaurant in Oak Bluffs this year, many vendors from on and off Island displayed their goods, from sports drinks to meats.
Lobsters roll in
The lobster rolls have returned. Every Friday, now through the summer, Grace Church in Vineyard Haven offers a lobster roll dinner, with beverage and dessert, for $10 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. For more information, call 508-693-0332.
