A funny thing happened to last week's column on its way to the printer: A rogue computer somewhere rearranged the online address for Arlan Wise's astrology column. So let's try again. Here it is: arlanwise.com. Ms. Wise is off to Denver for the United Astrology Congress along with about 2,000 fellow astrologers from all over the world. She will speak at three panels.

Betsy Burmeister, the recreation director at Windemere, invites everyone to a show of photos taken by Jack Regan's second and third grade class, "Growing Up-Island," at Featherstone Center for the Arts tomorrow, Friday, May 16, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. The event marks the third year of the "buddy program" between the second and third graders and Windemere residents whereby the children are given cameras - thanks to a grant from the Permanent Endowment Fund - and are asked to take pictures of their lives. They bring the photos to Windemere to show their new friends every month.

"Wonderful friendships have developed through the program," says Ms. Burmeister. The Windemere friends will also attend the show tomorrow. There will be refreshments, and Mark Lovewell will put on a musical program.

Everyone is invited to the dedication of the Veterans Memorial plaque in front of town hall next Friday, May 23, at 10 am. Refreshments will be served.

Library director Ebba Hierta has announced that the library has something new for people who need a little help getting around. The Friends of the Library have provided a wheelchair that is comfortable, lightweight and folds up for storage. Just ask at the front desk.
