Obituary : Gilberto Mariano

Gilberto Mariano, a dear friend to many, died suddenly in his hometown of Yuna, Espirito Santo, Brazil on April 22. He came to Martha's Vineyard to work and raise enough money to re-establish himself back in Brazil. He was very humble with a great spirit who befriended almost all those he worked with and associated with. He always looked on the bright side of life and had a contagious smile.
Gilberto returned to Brazil with the vision of establishing a school to teach English. With his devotion and straightforwardness, he tirelessly did just that, helping many Brazilian youths to learn English as a second language. Our friend was only 47 years old. He will surely be missed by many.
