Obituary : Salim J. Chalfoun
Salim Joseph "Joe" Chalfoun, an Island resident of 13 years, died Monday, June 23, at Martha's Vineyard Hospital of a stroke. He was born in Tripoli, Lebanon, on February 3, 1938, and raised in Syria, Lebanon, and France. He met his wife-to-be, Claire Seidl, in Paris, and they married in Beirut on October 5, 1962. He immigrated with Claire to the U.S. on December 4, 1962. They were married for nearly 48 years.
Joe Chalfoun is survived by his wife, Claire Chalfoun; two children, David Joseph Chalfoun and Michelle Rosemarie Chalfoun; and four grandchildren, Andrew Joseph Chalfoun, Miriam Rose Chalfoun, Carlos Esteban Chalfoun Freeman, and Ashly Estela Chalfoun Freeman.
His family and friends will miss him tremendously.
