Julius Middleton of Oak Bluffs has volunteered to join the ranks of the Massachusetts Army National Guard. After undergoing nine weeks of basic training at Ft. Jackson, S.C., he will be trained as an interior electrician with the National Guard.
Mr. Middleton graduated from Transit Technology. He plans to continue his education by attending college using the Massachusetts 100 percent free tuition waiver, federal tuition waiver, and G.I. Bill. He is the son of Elizabeth Middleton.
Mike Creato of Edgartown was recently named one of the "25 People You Must Meet This Summer" by Yankee Magazine. Mike is a vintage airplane pilot who runs Katama Plains Airpark.
Dick Vincent was recently named one of the "25 People You Must Meet This Summer" by Yankee Magazine. Dick is a charter fishing captain for Flashy Lady Charters.
Gary Jardin of Oak Bluffs recently passed the Massachusetts Grade 4 Wastewater Operators Exam and has been promoted to Plant Operator by the Town of Oak Bluffs Wastewater Department.
Matt Rodenbaugh of Oak Bluffs recently passed the Massachusetts Grade 4 Wastewater Operators Exam and has been promoted to Treatment Plant Operator by the Town of Edgartown.
Noelani Scott-Chase of West Tisbury recently received an academic excellence award for the 2007-08 year at Becker College in Worcester. The award goes to the student with the highest grade point average within the pre-veterinary science. Noelani was also on the Dean's List for the academic year. She is the daughter of Hannah and Jonathan Scott.
Susan Swartz of Edgartown recently won a bronze IPPY award from Independent Publisher for her art book "Natural Revelations" in the Best Regional Non-Fiction category.
