Main Street fair

Join the crowds on Main Street for the Tisbury Street Fair, Tuesday, July 8, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. To make things easy, park for free at the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School in Oak Bluffs and take a free shuttle to the fair. Annual favorites such as lobster rolls, dunking booths, and face painting will be accompanied by new attractions, like pony rides on Union Street. The rain date is Wednesday, July 9. For additional information, call 508-693-5366.

Word-class music

The 38th season of exceptional chamber music begins on Monday, July 7, at 8 pm, at the Old Whaling Church in Edgartown. The first concert of the annual series organized by the Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society will feature Russia's famous St. Petersburg String Quartet. Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased at the door, at ticketsmv.com, or by calling 508-696-8055. Students are free. Each Monday program is repeated on Tuesday, at 8 pm, at the Chilmark Community Center.

Free Bluefish tunes

Tonight at Memorial Wharf in Edgartown, Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish perform a free show. Since their inception in 1991, the band has evolved, but it remains a reliable and loved Island band, performing at many venues year-round. Enjoy their music from 7 to 10 pm.

Running Water

"Rising Water" continues its run at the Vineyard Playhouse every night except Monday and Tuesday, through July 12. Directed by MJ Bruder Munafo, John Biguenet's play is about a long-time married couple in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina who must keep themselves - and their love - afloat.
