Rise and dance

Published: July 3, 2008

Last Sunday, RISE: Vineyard Performing Arts held their first recital, "Destination Martha's Vineyard," at the high school's Performing Arts Center. Over 20 numbers were performed by dancers aged three to 73, with titles such as "The Steamship Authority," "The Vern Laux Report," "Squibnocket," and "Taste of the Vineyard." The opening dance, "All Things Vineyard," was the Island's version of The Sound of Music's "My Favorite Things."

RISE, located in the Woodlawn Business Center in Vineyard Haven, offers summer courses for children and adults. For more information, call 508-693-2262.
