Gift of life

The Red Cross announced an alarming blood shortage in Massachusetts, particularly on the Vineyard, due to the increase in need and decrease in donations during the summer months. A Martha's Vineyard Community Blood Drive will be held today, Thursday, July 24, at the Portuguese American Club, Vineyard Ave., Oak Bluffs, from 12 noon to 6 pm.

Those who want to make an appointment to donate at another time can call 1-800-GIVE LIFE (1-800-448-3543).
