Joseph A. Thibodeau Jr., 81, of Gillen Avenue, formerly of Providence, died on August 3 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital "after losing his beautiful wife" Margaret Mary (McHugh) Thibodeau, who died on March 25. They had been married for 58 years.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph A. Sr. and Bertha (Payette) Thibodeau.

Mr. Thibodeau had worked at the former Oates Tavern as a headwaiter and also for various other restaurants. He had also worked in the security profession and had attended LaSalle Academy.

He was the beloved father of Joseph A. Thibodeau, III and his wife Natalie of Martha's Vineyard; Elodie A. Zukauskas of Providence, R.I.; Margaret M. Smith of Franklin Springs, N.Y.; and Susan K. Thibodeau of North Providence, R.I., with whom he resided. He was the cherished grandfather of Andrew, Jane, Stephen, Cathleen, Travis, Sarah, and Matthew. He was the brother of Doris Laprade of Providence.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm with a funeral on Wednesday at 8 am from the Pontarelli-Marino Home, located at 971 Branch Avenue in Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue in Providence, and will be followed by interment in St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.
