Cindy Kane

Vineyard artist, Cindy Kane, will present and discuss her new show at the Old Town Hall in Aquinnah on Thursday, August 28, at 5 pm. Ms. Kane combines visual art and journalism in a unique installation in which 50 steel helmets hang from the ceiling in the configuration of a spiral. Each one is covered in original handwritten notes of foreign correspondents. The battle-worn helmets are spaced so as to allow visitors to study the notes, which record the despair and suffering caused by war. The event, sponsored by the Aquinnah Public Library, is free.

Show Of Diversity At Craven

The eclectic works of five artists are currently on display at Carol Craven Gallery in Vineyard Haven in an exhibit that opened on Sunday, August 24. In a reception held from 5-7 pm, visitors admired Gretchen Feldman's watercolors, Beezy Bailey and Usen Obot's paintings inspired by their native South Africa, John Digby's bird images on glass, and Romare Bearden's watercolors and collages.
