Endowment adds two new board members

The Permanent Endowment for Martha’s Vineyard announced that Melissa Hackney and Edward Miller have been elected to the nonprofit’s board. “The Permanent Endowment is truly honored to welcome Melissa and Edward. We are so fortunate to have the benefit of their professional expertise, knowledge of the Vineyard and commitment to our Island community,” Anne Williamson, board chairman said in a press release. “As we continue to work to build support for Vineyard nonprofits and meet the needs of Islanders, the wisdom and enthusiasm that Melissa and Edward bring will contribute significantly to our continuing efforts to improve the quality of life on the Vineyard.”

Melissa Hackney is a lawyer with the Edgartown firm of Reynolds, Rappaport, Kaplan & Hackney where she concentrates in business law, including general corporate law, partnerships, limited liability vehicles, nonprofit law, charitable organizations, and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Hackney also serves on the boards of the West Tisbury Free Public Library, Vineyard Youth Tennis and the Vineyard Haven Tennis Foundation. She and her family are residents of West Tisbury.

A Vineyard fulltime resident since 2002, Edward Miller has been coming to the Island since 1962 when he arrived for a summer job on a fishing boat. He is the former chief executive officer of Schroder Salomon Smith Barney. He also serves on the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital board of trustees and the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival advisory board. He lives in Chilmark with his wife, Monina von Opel.
