Water, water nowhere, unless you’re odd or even

The Oak Bluffs water district reminds residents in published ads that a mandatory water ban remains in effect this summer.

All town water customers who have odd numbered street addresses may use outdoor water during odd number calendar days. Those with even numbered addresses may use outdoor water on even numbered calendar days, according to the water district.

The water district also maintains signs, strategically placed throughout Oak Bluffs, to remind residents of the restrictions.

The board of water commissioners unanimously voted the ban in 2006, to promote water conservation during the peak summer months and to comply with the town’s state water management permit. The state permit sets conditions for water use.
