Laura Stone, 27, of West Tisbury, driving a 1997 Jeep, swerved to avoid a deer at the intersection of Old County Road and State Road at 1:46 am Monday morning. The vehicle went through the split rail fence at the apex of the forked intersection, struck a tree, and came to rest in the middle of Old County Road. Ms. Stone was bound up-Island at the time. She was transported to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital by Tri-Town Ambulance.
Ms Stone told The Times her seat belt and air bag prevented injuries other than a few bruises.
Police cited Ms. Stone for driving at a speed greater than reasonable.
