To the Editor,
We arrived at our grandfather’s house at 84 William Street in Vineyard Haven last Sunday night at about 11 pm. We had brought our bikes — a light blue Trek with white and brown polka dots and a metallic blue Jamis girl’s bike with a Bell cushion seat. Our grandfather, Larry Harrison, told us to park them inside the picket fence on the Church Street side of the house.
The bikes were missing the following morning at 8:40 am when my grandfather left for an appointment. We reported the theft to the Vineyard Haven police. We hope that the person(s) who took the bikes will return them.
We didn’t expect anything like this to happen on Martha’s Vineyard. But we have learned our lesson and hope that others will benefit from our loss. Remember to lock up your bikes!
