It was a lively scene at Carol Craven Gallery on State Road in West Tisbury at this past Sunday’s opening of work by award-winning artist Harry Seymour.
Mr. Seymour seemed to enjoy the responses of the gallery-goers as they reacted to his work in various media. The subjects of his representational paintings are chosen to include the emotional content of the subjects, often family scenes and picturesque vistas.
Mr. Seymour, professor emeritus of the Department of Communication Disorders at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, has turned his full attention to his career as an artist. He experiments with oils, egg tempera, and scratchboard etchings.
The opening of his show on Sunday provided evidence of his success at capturing his subjects and moving the viewers.
