In the latest round of beach closures, last Thursday health officials in West Tisbury and Oak Bluffs announced beach closures due to high levels of bacteria. West Tisbury was hardest hit but the closures proved to be temporary.
Early Friday, West Tisbury health agent John Powers reported that water samples taken at Sepiessa Point Beach on Tisbury Great Pond and Lambert’s Cove beach showed levels of enterococci bacteria that exceeded state standards. Those beaches were closed.
Late Friday, Mr. Powers received the results of the most recent tests. About 5 pm he called The Times and said the beaches were reopened.
