The second annual Good Dog Goods Martha’s Vineyard Dog Parade took place this past Saturday, August 28, after being postponed the previous Sunday. Originally a Welcome Back, Bo Obama parade, the theme was changed to So Long, Bo — See You Next Summer, though there has been no official word he will return next summer.

Dozens of dogs and their owners strolled through Ocean Park starting at 6:30 pm, led by marshal Reggie Orcutt, a five-year-old Norwich Terrier owned by Greg and Mary Orcutt, and Nico, Meghan, and Ele Esposito. The marshal opportunity was auctioned off at this year’s Possible Dreams auction and won by Karen Weitz and Jim Kopf, but passed on to the Orcutts because of a scheduling conflict.

Five-year-old cousins Mya Perez and Christian Turner followed Reggie, leashes in hand, through the park.

Kate Feiffer, Island children’s author, was joined by her daughter Maddie and dog, Australian shepherd Henry, as she read from her book, “Henry, The Dog With No Tail.”

Lisa Vanderhoop, photographer of the famed Vineyard Seadog calendar, took hundreds of photos, Lynn Christoffers filmed for MVTV, and Ed Rogers played the trumpet with drummer Max Santos and clarinetist Grant Santos.

The Reverend Jeff Winter, pastor of the Faith Community Church, blessed the dogs, including his westie, Aspen.
