No complaints will be tolerated about the mini hurricane. We all delighted in the beautiful weather left behind for the holiday weekend. The people worried about our safety had a good chance to use the Code Red phone notification. So now we know that works. Roads were kept clear and most of you cooperated very well. There were a few temper tantrums when some folks couldn’t get the batteries they should have bought earlier. But now they are prepared for the next storm.

Louisa Gould will be out on the water Saturday to capture many action shots of the Moffett Cup Regatta. You can look at her website to see samples of her impressive pictures. Call 508-693-7373 ahead of time if you would like photographs of your boat and team as they compete in this quintessential Vineyard end-of-the-season regatta.

Sandy Whitworth wants to remind you that people of all ages are welcome to events at the Tisbury Senior Center. You don’t have to be of a certain age. The seniors enjoy having some younger folks around. On this Monday afternoon there is a light tea at 2 pm with a speaker. There is no charge but you must sign up at 508-696-4205 so they know whom to expect for tea. The speaker is David Nathans, director of the Martha’s Vineyard Museum in Edgartown, who will describe the new exhibits, ranging from art to Indians to the new interactive program called Girl on a Whaleship.

Opening this month at the M.V. Museum is a special exhibit on Your Town, Our Island. This will include a lot of your own town’s history. There are also many unidentified photographs in the museum collection of people and of places that you might be interested to look at.
