Deck repairs and paving on the Bourne Bridge spanning the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne are scheduled to start on Sept. 20 and continue until early December 2010, according to a press release.
Starting Monday, weather permitting, night work will be conducted on the bridge from 7 pm to 5:30 am weekdays only. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each direction during the night work. This will take place for one or two weeks.
Beginning 10 am, Tuesday, Oct. 12, weather permitting, travel restrictions will be put in place 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. At this time, travel over the Bourne Bridge will be reduced from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction.
Motorists planning to use the Bourne Bridge during this timeframe should be aware that travel delays are likely to occur during the morning and afternoon peak travel periods each day, the Army Corps said. This schedule will continue until the project is completed in early December 2010.
Message boards, located at both approaches to the Bourne Bridge, will keep motorists advised of work efforts.
