Aquinnah selectmen have selected Adam Wilson, presently zoning administrator for Oak Bluffs, to become the new town coordinator.
The town coordinator acts on behalf of selectmen in organizing the business of the town.
Jeff Burgoyne, who has served as town coordinator for the past five years, announced his resignation at the selectmen’s meeting last week.
“I wish to express my heartfelt thanks to all,” Mr. Burgoyne said. “I’ve enjoyed working in this position.”
Mr. Wilson said he has accepted the job offer, and awaits final details of a five-year contract.
“It gives me an opportunity to work with the folks up in Aquinnah, it follows the career path I’ve chosen, and I get to stay on the Island,” Mr. Wilson said.
Mr. Wilson, 51, lives in Oak Bluffs. He has a degree in political science from American University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Miami.
