Jonathan Gill captured the large-caliber division of the annual M.V. Pistol Championships Sunday, with a score of 290 out of 350. Jim Dorsey topped the small-bore division with a score of 305 of 350 at the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club range in Edgartown.

Shooters had to fire from different distances and positions with various limitations. Second in the small-bore division was Steve Jordan; George Lucas placed second in the large-bore competition.

Steve Jordan Jr. had the top score in the rim-fire class with a score of 290 of 350. Steve’s brother Philip earned second place honors.

Shotgunners are reminded that Sunday, November 28, is the date for the annual Deer Shoot that always takes place the day before deer hunting season begins. It’s an opportunity to set your shotgun and win hams or turkeys or other prizes.
