Martha’s Vineyard farmers offer winter market

The first West Tisbury Winter Farmers Market was held Saturday, October 23, from 10 am – 2 pm at the Ag Hall in West Tisbury. Many of the vendors Islanders enjoyed all summer have moved indoors to sell their vegetables, oysters, flowers, jams, paper, orchids, meat, cheese, soaps, and other homemade or homegrown goods. It was a feast for the senses and the music of Kevin Keady and friends added just the right note.

Visitors were greeted with a roaring fire edged with long tables and benches filled with neighbors chatting and eating a hot lunch. This week it was butternut squash, kale soup, and eggplant parmesan provided by Little Rock Farm. This was a market for lingering. People were not in a hurry to be someplace else, they were here to savor the market and visit with friends.

If you missed the first one, fortunately you have four more chances before the end of the year — November 6 and 20 and December 4 and 18. Hours are the same each week, 10 am – 2 pm.
