Jennifer Brown, 31, of Tisbury was injured Monday night when she drove her truck off Lambert’s Cove Road near the Tisbury-West Tisbury town line. Ms. Brown was driving alone and no other vehicles were involved, acting West Tisbury police chief Daniel Rossi said.

The West Tisbury police and fire departments responded to a call about the accident at 8:27 pm, as did Tri-Town Ambulance, Tisbury police, and Tisbury Ambulance, Chief Rossi said Tuesday.

Ms. Brown was still inside her 2006 Toyota pickup truck when West Tisbury police officers Russell Ventura and Garrison Vieira arrived, followed by firefighters and emergency medical technicians who tended to her injuries before removing her from the vehicle.

“The officers discovered there was quite a bulge on the windshield, which indicated she was probably not wearing her seatbelt,” Chief Rossi said.

Chief Rossi said Ms. Brown was transported to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and her vehicle towed away. There was no report about the extent of her injuries.

At the hospital, West Tisbury police issued a citation to Ms. Brown for negligent operation, failure to wear a seatbelt, and failure to stay within marked lanes, for which she will be summonsed to court, Chief Rossi said.

Ms. Brown said she had driven all day since 9 am on her way back to the Island from Pennsylvania, Chief Rossi said.
