Organic gardening

A workshop on organic landscaping and gardening sponsored by the Martha’s Vineyard Water Alliance and Vineyard Conservation Society takes place on November 10 at 12:15 pm, at the Martha’s Vineyard Commission offices on New York Avenue in Oak Bluffs.

A presentation by guest speaker Charles “Chip” Osborne, the founder and president of Osborne Organics, will be followed by an extensive question and answer session.

Mr. Osborne travels nationwide to speak to sports field professionals, state and municipal agencies, community groups, landscapers, and homeowners on the topic of natural turf and garden methods.

School theater

The Edgartown School announces its fall play, starring students in grades sixth through eighth, which runs this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Nov. 5–7. “Once Upon a Mattress,” based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea,” starts at 7 pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 pm on Sunday. Make a night of it on Saturday with a Dinner Theater, which starts at 6 pm (reservations required: 508-627-3316 ext. 401). Admission is $8; $6 children; $25 family. Dinner is $15; $10 children.
