Is anyone as relieved as I am to have election season over with? No more being badgered with signs and ads and heated conversations. I’m sure some find it exciting, but I am not among them. At the time of this writing, I have no idea what the outcome will be, but I know I’ll certainly be glad it’s over.

I survived my first Patriots game in Foxboro this past Sunday. With our game jerseys on and the grill and cooler securely strapped to the back of the car, we began our pilgrimage on the 9:30 boat and hit the highway. Our “travel team” included my mom, Pam Dolby, Gail Avakian, and my husband, Dave. On the boat, we ran into Peter Rosbeck and Caitlin Murphy, who were headed the same way. Once we got to the parking lot for tailgating, we met up with Fred Fournier, who was joined by high school friend Vinnie Davis, down from Buffalo, Tucker Allen from Woods Hole, and the famous Fella Cecilio of Fella’s. It was quite the warm reception for a first-timer, and a good time was had by all, particularly due to the 28-18 win. I guess I’m good luck.

Proud father Fred shared with me that his daughter Caroline Fournier now has her driver’s license, and on the same day, Connor Smith was awarded his license as well. Congratulations, guys, and welcome to the open road.

In post-Halloween news, I have to share that right after submitting my column last week, I was in line in the grocery store behind Franny Gentle, who was stocking up for trick-or-treaters. I wasn’t quite sure at first, but I said to my husband, “I think that was Franny Gentle. She always had the best Halloween candy.” The cashier overheard and assured me, “Oh yeah. She just bought tons of it.” So I’m glad to know the tradition continues, and that particular house on School Street is still a hot spot.

Best of luck to Marilyn Vukota, who is planning to run the New York Marathon on Sunday, husband Mick was proud to report. We’ll be cheering you on.

I got a message from Jesse Hayes, who is new to Edgartown. Jesse, wife Arielle, and two sons, Miles and Christian, have spent the fall exploring their new environs, spending time on the beach as much as possible, and finding some great drift wood on South Beach. I’m sure we’ll all be getting to know these folks in upcoming months. Welcome to Edgartown!
