Wow. That whole dark at 4:30 in the afternoon thing can be kind of a bummer. As I write this it is not yet 9 pm and yet I feel like it’s 1 am. The night feels so heavy and unending. I know I will wake up at six (thinking it’s seven) and I will be UP. I really can’t decide if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. I am traditionally a night person, but I always have a sneaking suspicion that morning people get more done. Or maybe they just act like they do. Anyway in this darkness, I find I don’t really want to do anything, just read the paper and go to bed.

Congratulations to Aretha and Keron Brown whose daughter Fiona, was born on Sunday at 12:20 pm. Aretha had a long labor and everyone is healthy. Congratulations as well to Grandmas Kate and Joanie, and Aunties Liz and Aquinnah. I can’t wait to meet her.

If you haven’t seen it yet, check out Lisa Vanderhoop’s new Seadogs calendar. It is the best one yet — so many great photos and the layout is very sharp. Nice job, Lisa.

Christmas is next month? Here on the Vineyard I think we should have Christmas right after Labor Day, when the tourists are gone but we all still have money. Who has money for gifts in December?
