Birthday benefit for NOCC

Caroline Miller, host of MVTV Channel 13’s “Faces and Places,” a program dedicated to showcasing Island events and personalities, is celebrating her birthday with a benefit for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) this Saturday, Nov. 20.

The NOCC recently named Ms. Miller — whose mother died of ovarian cancer in 2004 — a Teal Ambassador, which makes her responsible for raising awareness about the disease.

Ms. Miller decided that her 40th birthday was an appropriate time to promote the NOCC. “At this age, I have started getting mammograms and considering hormonal issues/therapies, etc., so it’s relevant and timely to me and my female friends and family members to be more educated, empowered, and in some ways selfish, about taking care of ourselves,” Ms. Miller said in a press release.

From 8 pm on, enjoy live music, DJ’s, food, and door prizes at Deon’s Restaurant in Oak Bluffs, all for a donation of $20. For more information, call 508-560-5544 or email therealcaroline@gmail.com.
