Swan presided over Mill Pond

Joanie Jenkinson, Animal Control Officer for West Tisbury, has brought a white swan back to the Mill Pond. The big bird was found wandering the streets in Menemsha, where Joanie picked her up from a mud puddle and brought her to the Mill Pond in West Tisbury for a more pleasant life on the water. Named “Bob,” since her head was bobbing up and down, she most likely is a female from her markings. Joanie just yells, “Bob”, and she swims over for her thrice daily treats, looking better and better. She can’t fly, but she is eating the grass in the Mill Pond and she has been befriended by the resident small ducks. One day last week, four otters were swimming with her.
