Teeing off

In its first full season, the Anthony H. Meyer Junior Golf Trust provided financial assistance for some young Vineyard golfers.

Working in conjunction with the M.V. Boys & Girls Club, the Trust was able to fund a variety of programs. Junior golf equipment was purchased for general use at clinics and for practice. Island professionals Robbie Rush, Don Costello, Kyle Fiore, and Chet Nowak provided clinics and private lessons for more than 40 youngsters at no cost to them. Several new full sets of clubs were purchased for deserving youngsters.

The Trust hopes to develop a significant scholarship program and a junior golf league.

It has long been the wish of Mr. Meyer to help Island youth become interested in the game of golf because he was so passionate about the ideals of the sport.

Mark Hess of the Edgartown Golf Course is the program administrator.
