Vandals damaged lights on the Owen Park dock in Vineyard Haven early Monday evening. Tisbury Department of Public Works personnel discovered the damage Tuesday during a routine check of the harbormaster’s building. They reported it to police at 9:15 am.

The miscreants struck the four lights, valued at $350 apiece, with a hard object, knocking the plastic domes off into the water, Tisbury police Chief Dan Hanavan said.

In a follow-up phone call with The Times Tuesday afternoon, Chief Hanavan said police had reviewed video footage of the area, which featured a group of two girls and four boys who appear to be high school age. Police are in the process of identifying them.

“When we find who did this, they will have to pay restitution, which comes to $1,400,” Chief Hanavan said. “Anyone who might have seen something or knows anything should call the Tisbury Police at 508-696-4240.”
