On Tuesday, November 23, 10 members of the student council at the West Tisbury School arrived at Community Services to deliver all the fixins' for Thanksgiving meals for 40 Island families.

From there they distributed the meals to families in need across the Island. Organized initially by teacher Robyn Maciel-Wingate, and in recent years with the help of colleague Marsha Curtis, the program is now 17 years old. At first, the school-wide project provided meals for 15 families; this year the total was 45, including five families indentified by the school.

Before the students returned to school after delivering the food to MVCS, one recipient had already called the school to say, "How did you know? I wasn't going to have a Thanksgiving. But now, I can. Thank you so much."
