0

The annual Martha’s Vineyard Rod & Gun Club black powder shoot begins 11 am, Sunday. The muzzleloading marksmanship competition provides Island black powder shooters with an opportunity to sight their guns and hone their skills before taking to the field on Monday, the start of the state’s muzzle loader deer season. A small entry fee will be charged.

Competitive events include loading, shooting, and reloading for accuracy and points. There will be two classes for both traditional and modern muzzleloaders. Prizes will be awarded for each class. The club will also present a prize of a $100 gift certificate in memory of club member and Civil War buff Bill Nicholson.

The public is invited. The Rod & Gun Club is located on 3rd Street in Edgartown off the Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road. For more information call club president Bob Delisle at 508-221-0902.
