The American Red Cross blood drive scheduled for January 12 at the Portuguese American Club on Vineyard Avenue in Oak Bluffs was canceled due to the snow storm that hit the region.
Red Cross officials said they have rescheduled the drive for Monday, February 22, from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Portuguese American Club. All donors will receive a free Boston Bruins T-shirt.
Lisa Godlewski,a Red Cross representative, said the holidays and recent storms have created a shortage in the supply.
“On behalf of patients in need, thank you for your continued support of the American Red Cross community blood program,” she said.
A Red Cross announcement reported that there is a critical need for blood in the New England region, particularly Type O negative.
“Since Type O negative can be used for all patients in need, it is crucial that there is a sufficient supply,” the Red Cross said.
