The Tisbury School will host a meeting Tuesday for all Island parents about the new Martha’s Vineyard Bullying Prevention Policy. Tisbury School administration and guidance officials will highlight the policy, describe intervention strategies, and answer questions.
The meeting begins at 6 pm in the Tisbury School Library. Childcare will be provided.
On May 3 Governor Deval Patrick signed a new law that required every school to have a policy on bullying by December 31, 2010. As part of each school’s plan, not only students but also every one who works in their school or is involved with them, including their parents, must be trained to prevent, identify, and respond to bullying.
Since the law’s enactment, Island school administrators, faculty, parents, and other interested community members have worked diligently to formulate plans that include policies on bullying, cyber-bullying, and harassment.
