The Martha’s Vineyard Times and the Real Estate Guide for Martha’s Vineyard have created a formal alliance to jointly offer new advertising options for Vineyard businesses.

By combining technologies and efforts, the goal is to reach a much larger audience while maintaining the most cost-effective advertising prices, according to a press statement released this week by publishers Ruth McGorty of the Real Estate Guide and Peter Oberfest of The Times.

Among other attributes of the new alliance, a cross-promotion feature of the joint effort will allow advertisers in the Real Estate Guide to be included in the property search section on mvtimes.com, at no additional cost. And, a link to the electronic version of the Real Estate Guide (realestateguidemv.com) will be featured on the mvtimes.com real estate home page.

Plus, mvtimes.com will offer on its site featured real estate video advertising, with links available to individual advertiser websites. This special online section will also feature a video house tour, supplied by the Real Estate Guide, in conjunction with the magazine’s feature of the month.

“We feel confident that this alliance will provide a strong online presence to complement both publications. By working together to create new multi-media advertising options, Island businesses will benefit by staying current with national marketing trends and maximizing the exposure of their advertising,” the two publishers said. “This alliance reflects many years of mutual respect between the two publications and a desire to accomplish more together than could be achieved individually. In this challenging time when the media world has become so fast-paced, yet advertising budgets are still tight, the hope is to provide options that continue to best meet the needs of the Island community.”

In addition, print advertising in both publications will be used to direct prospective readers to the new websites, Ms. McGorty and Mr. Oberfest explained.
