While we are still in the throes of winter (contrary to last weeks temporary warm up), our local stores already have their eyes on the warmer spring season.
They are preparing for the new season by making a sweep of their shops to make room for new products. That means big sales for you. I took a stroll down Main Street in Vineyard Haven to find out what was on sale now.
Starting at the top of Main Street, Brickman’s has a large sale of 25 to 50 percent off for selected merchandise. Bryn Walker is expecting a large shipment of new arrivals in April, so they have some deep discounts to make room. Accessories are 30 percent off while most clothing is an amazing 50 to 70 percent off. They are open daily.
Timeless Treasures has a 50 percent off sale that covers a variety of clothes and lingerie, along with fabulous shearling gloves or the cutest large pillows with soft depictions of dogs on the front.
The Beach House is offering a sale on a selection of their table linens, baby items, along with some of their vast line of Ekelund tablecloths, runners, baby gear, and blankets. Kay Mayhew was a wealth of knowledge and led me through the wonderful line of Ekelund, which is made by master weavers of Switzerland. Kay showed me a child’s blanket covered with dinosaurs, about which Kay said, her “granddaughter absolutely loved, as she loves anything with dinosaurs.” Kay further enthused, “What I love about this line is the real sense of fun it has and every kitchen could use some fun.” Kay reminds everyone, “They also have a wonderful store filled with amazing products like their Italian Pottery.”
Jaba’s Gallery offers 30 percent off everything, so if you need a print, picture, or frame to finish off a room, now is your chance. Claudia’s has also jumped into the fray with a fine selection of jewelry on sale for 20 percent off, including the Amy Khan Russell line. You may also upgrade your glassware at a 20 percent discount, but hurry in before it is all gone.
Rainy Day offers big savings on many items to make room for their new arrivals. If you have a little one in your midst, now is the time to dress them in the much-coveted Hatley Rain Gear. Coats are currently $28 and boots are $21 instead of their normal $47.95 and $34.95, respectively. You could also add in a new outfit at a 30 percent discount, as all kids’ clothing is on sale. Men can even get into the act with a 50 percent off sale on men’s tee-shirts, Hatley clothing, and select boxers. You will have to visit in person to find out what is residing on the 50 percent off Shower Savings Table.
Off Main is currently right “on.” Not only do they have 30 to 50 percent off children’s clothing and 50 percent off 2011 calendar’s, but they have also reopened their sale room in the back. Here you will find home decor and baby items. Kids are really making out here, especially with the Jumbo Ugly Dolls that are 30 percent off. Have you walked by and just fallen in love with something in their window? You are in luck as they are putting all of their displays on sale to make room for their new season arrivals.
Across the street, you are going to be lined up for the Green Room’s big sale starting this Saturday. They are placing the entire store on sale. All regular priced items are 50 percent off and all old sale items are 75 percent off. Boots, shoes, Patagonia, The North Face, and bags will be 40 percent off. Manager Lance Fullin wants to remind you, “Don’t forget about our skate stuff, watches, sunglasses, surf line, and wetsuits, which will all also be on sale.”
Heading back down the street, Bramhall & Dunn has their fabulous White Sale, which offers 30 to 50 percent off bed, bath, and table, including decorator pillows. All clothing must go for the new season, so get your shopping bags ready to fill at 30 to 70 percent off. Take time to fit your feet with a new pair of Old Gringo boots and finish off your new outfit with an Il Bisonte purse, both 40 percent off.
So head out to stock up, as these prices won’t last long and neither will the inventory.
