The Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School boys varsity basketball team ended its regular season with a 17-3 record. That earned it a second seed in post season Division 3 tournament play, which the Island began yesterday when they took on Norwell.
The Vineyard took second seed behind Medway, which also finished with a 17-3 record. Both teams had byes in the peliminary round of Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association play.
On Wednesday, March 2, the Vineyarders played Norwell at the Sancy Pachico Gym (results available at mvtimes.com). Norwell, the 18th seed, defeated 15th seeded Archbishop Williams in the preliminary round, 52-47, on Monday, February 28.
Medway will be playing Dedham, which topped Hanover, 58-54, in the other preliminary round.
Last year the Vineyarders were bumped from the playoffs by the eventual champs, Wareham, in the quarter finals.
