The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) will recognize Windemere Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the organization’s 45th Annual Convocation and Exposition to be held in New Orleans this May, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital announced in a press release.

ACHCA, a nonprofit professional membership association, identifies, recognizes, and supports long-term care leaders, advocating for their mission and promoting excellence in their profession, according to its website. The award recognizes achievement for a level of performance related to selected measurements of organizational quality.

Those measurements are tied to Medicare inspections (Medicare.gov) used to compare long-term care facilities across the state and country. Windemere achieved a top over all score of five out of five stars.

Ken Chisholm, Windemere executive director, will receive the leadership recognition on behalf of Windemere.

“Ken’s exceptional leadership capabilities include an amazing ability to identify areas needing improvement, create an action plan together with his care-giving team, and then to swiftly implement those needed changes,” Timothy Walsh, hospital CEO said. “He works tirelessly to make things better. Given Windemere’s past difficulties, this achievement is nothing short of amazing.”

Windemere includes a 21-bed dementia care unit, 40-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation unit, and a 13-bed residential living wing.
