Volleyball update

Last Thursday afternoon the Oak Bluffs Blazers ran off three wins in a row: 25-18, 25-16 and 25-15 after losing the first contest to visiting Tisbury, 13-25.

In spite of a “trick” knee for which she wears a brace, Josie Iodicicco served up a generous helping of points and made her share of saves in the latter games.

Grant Santos and Megan Bischoff were effective in the losing cause.

Also Thursday the West Tisbury Hawks flew into Edgartown to take on the Edgartown Eagles. After winning the first game, Westiz dropped the next two and had to top the Eagles in game four as well as the short (15 points) fifth tie-breaking game to remain undefeated on the season.

Tuesday, Tisbury visited its up-Island cousins and Edgartown was at Oak Bluffs.

Interscholastic volleyball standings as of Wednesday: West Tisbury 3-0; Oak Bluffs 2-1; Tisbury 1-2; Edgartown 0-3
