The Wharf was packed with people and good vibes Saturday night, all in support of Imma Be the Cure, the team of local women who are preparing to walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Boston May 14 and 15.

Thanks to the generosity of some 150 people, $6,000 was raised Saturday, according to Erin Kokoszka, team captain of Imma Be the Cure. With determined team members continuing to recruit support from everyone they know and with four more events planned, the team hopes to raise $60,000 for this year’s walk. Saturday’s event pushed them past the half-way mark.

Most of the crowd was getting as much as they were giving, though, judging by the shoulder-to-shoulder, wall-to-wall dancers with ear-to-ear smiles. Upbeat, feel-good dance tunes were provided by Mike Benjamin, Gordon Healy, and Sabrina.

“It was wildly successful, just amazing,” Ms. Kokoszka said. “It was one giant dance floor. If you didn’t have a smile on your face, something was wrong.”
