Despite the sometimes-uncooperative weather, spring is undoubtedly on the way. And with it comes the re-opening of some seasonal favorites. It’s all starting in Edgartown where Alchemy recently reopened and is serving dinner Thursday through Monday at 5:30 pm. Détente opened their doors last weekend after a brief winter hiatus. Get in there for dinner before the crowds do; they are serving dinner Thursday through Saturday also starting at 5:30.
Among the Flowers will “try for” an April 2 opening, followed by l’etoile in late April. Stop on by The Right Fork Diner starting May 20 for a scenic breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They’ll be open seven days a week, from 7 am to 9 pm.
A few new businesses are moving into Edgartown this season as well. The Edgartown Meat and Fish Market is preparing to open in Post Office Square, formerly where Hollywood Video was. The upscale market was recently approved to sell beer and wine. Details to follow.
Signs of life will return to Oak Bluffs tomorrow with the Lampost’s annual April 1 opening party. Get ready for sushi and summer beer at the Lookout Tavern, set to open April 14.
You won’t have to wait too much longer for wings and oysters on the harbor, a sure sign of the season. Coop de Ville will return with their summer fare on April 22, kicking off openings on the harbor. Both Nancy’s and Fishbones Grille will keep us waiting until Memorial Day, but it will sure be nice to enjoy those patios when the time rolls around.
Sweets in Oak Bluffs can be found now at Ben and Bills, and on April 14 at M.V. Gourmet Café and Bakery, located next door to the Post Office. Sweet E’s Cupcakes opens both locations, in Vineyard Haven and Edgartown, on May 1. Tisberry owner Eric Johnson says the frozen yogurt and smoothie cafe will open Thursday, May 5, around 12 noon.
For those looking forward to dining up-Island, State Road Restaurant reopens Friday, April 15. Dan and Wenonah Sauer of Aquinnah are opening 7A Foods in West Tisbury, where Back Alley’s used to be, in May.
Stay tuned for more information about new openings and re-openings. Happy spring, Martha’s Vineyard.
