At Abington, last Thursday, the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School girls track and field team ran away with a win of 90.5-31.5 while the high school boys took honors, 74-48.
The Island girls swept the two-mile run (Schofield 13:23, Mayard, and Norris) as well as the discus (Dumont 78’3″, Riseborough, and Nivala) and the long jump (Penicaud, Benedetto and Lindland.)
They were 1-2 in the shot put (Riseborough 36″) and Nivala; the mile (Neville 6:33) and Norris; the 100m (Janek and Lindland) the 110m high hurdles (Nivala and Harcourt).
Abington won the javelin throw, high jump, and triple jump as well as the 400m.
Martha’s Vineyard won the 4×100 relay: Campbell, Janek, Benedetto, Lindland,
The 4×400 relay, and 400m low hurdles were not run.
The MV boys only sweep was with the discus.
They took first and second in the javelin: Piland 124′ and Turney and the 800m: Osborn 2:11 and Joba Woodruff.
They were first and third in the high jump: Jette 5’10″ and Oiland; the mile Schroeder and Nevin; and won the 4×100 relay (Maynard, Lawrence, Piland, and Jette.)
Jette won the 100m at 11.6, the long jump at 20’3″.
Araujo won the shot put.
MV was seond and third at the triple jump pit: Maciel 39’1″ and Alley-Tarter.
Alley-Tarter and Joba Woodruff were 2-3 at two miles.
The 4×400 relay and the 400m low hurdles were not run.
The track teams entertain Cohasset on Saturday, beginning at 1 pm.
