Oak Bluffs water district plans to flush hydrants clean
Oak Bluffs residents may see discolored tap water over the next six weeks. The water department announced it would begin flushing hydrants throughout town to remove accumulated sediment from the water system.
The water district flushes hydrants twice each year. The operation will begin Monday, April 18, on Barnes Road at Alwardt Way, and continue four to six weeks.
Each day the water district will post the specific area affected on its website at oakbluffswaterdistrict.com.
The crews will use a limited amount of chlorine and plan to notify people sensitive to the chemical in advance, according to a press release.
The water district advises residents to run cold water for five to ten minutes to clear any discoloration. If that does not work, call the water district office at 508-693-5527.
