The Vineyard Haven Steamship Authority Terminal has won an Energy Star Award, with a rating of 84 out of a possible 100.

Terminal manager Bridget Tobin accepted the award on April 12, with acting facilities engineering manager Bill Cloutier. Nicole Price, the commercial and industrial program planner from Cape Light Compact, delivered the good news.

“This score is proof of a series of mindful decisions made by the Steamship Authority,” Ms. Price said. “It is apparent that they had efficiency in mind during the design process. The efficient design results in lower operating costs.”

This terminal, as well as the other Steamship Authority terminals in Cape Light Compact’s territory, were assessed by Cape Light Compact to identify energy efficiency opportunities.

Cape Light Compact is a regional inter-municipal agency, authorized by 21 towns on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, to protect consumer interests, secure competitive electricity prices, and offer green power options.
