The MVRHS girls lacrosse team defeated the visiting Bishop Feehan Shamrocks, Tuesday, 19-10.

Alayna Hutchinson started the scoring, converting a perfect pass from Cat Todd, just a minute and three seconds after the face-off. Feehan tied the score 30 seconds later.

But the next six goals in the next six minutes were all colored purple. Molly Fischer, Cat Todd, Maddie Hughes, Taylor Poggi, Hughes again, and Isabel Smith all filled the Feehan net.

The Shamrock girls would find the back of the net four more times before the half, but the Islanders kept up the pressure to lead by nine at the break, 14-5.

The off-Island girls improved their showing in the second half, but the deficit was too much to overcome. Both teams added five in the second half. Ambika Datta’s was her first of the game.

The Vineyard defense was anchored by Niki Alexander and Shelby Ferry, with April Harvey in goal. April was credited with eight saves.

The Vineyarders are 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the EAC.

The girls played at Cohasset yesterday and host Wayland on Saturday at 3 pm; both schools have strong programs.
