At the end of the first full week of Majors Little League baseball, the Cubs and Athletics were atop the league with perfect records. The Cubs, 3-0, had outscored opponents 14-1. The A’s, 2-0, had crossed the plate 11 times to their opponents’ 4.
The Tigers, 2-1, have 11 runs to their credit and they’ve let in 10. The Cardinals, at 1-2, have scored 10 to their opponents’ 16. At 0-3, the Sox have scored eight runs to their opponents’ 21. The Pirates are 1-2 on the season, having scored 11 run to their opponents’ 13.
This week, Tigers visited the A’s Wednesday. Saturday’s three games, all at Veira Park, are at noon (Cards vs. Cubs), 2:30 pm (Pirates at Red Sox) and 5 pm (A’s vs. Tigers).
Minor League stats
The Marlins sit atop the Minor League, unbeaten in two starts, having scored 21 runs to their opponents’ 13.
The Twins have played just one game, which they won, 23-20.
The Reds are even at 1 and 1 with 28 runs in their locker, having given up 15. Likewise, the Rockies have won one and lost one, even though outscored, 28-15,
The Rays (0-1) and Orioles (0-2) have yet to win a game. The Rays have given up 13 runs and scored 10 of their own. The O’s have scored 13 and given up 21.
This week the Rockies are home to the Twins, Tuesday, at Manter. Wednesday the Marlins host the Rays at Nunes and the Reds take on the Orioles at Manter. Saturday’s games are Cubs vs. Cards at Manter, O’s at Reds at Nunes at 2 pm. Rockies vs. Twins at Nunes at 4:30 pm.
Farm League games at the West Tisbury School are: Sand Gnats vs. Sharks, Mudcats vs. Bulls, and Bats vs. Muck Dogs.
