Vineyarders fall to Bishop Feehan in track

The Bishop Feehan track and field teams visited, Tuesday, and as expected, ran off with one-sided wins on the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School oval. The Shamrock boys team's winning advantage was 84-52. The Feehan girls won,114-22.
Outstanding for the purple and white were Randall Jette who won the 100m dash and the long jump and anchored the winning 4x100 relay team. Jacob Lawrence won the high jump and qualified for the state meet in the 300m and long jump. Joe Turney won the javelin with a state-qualifying toss of 140' 3".
Maggie Riseborough won her specialty, the shot put, with a heave of 26' 6". Maddie Penicaud was second in the long jump, the triple jump, and the 400m low hurdles.
The Shamrocks have been State Division Three champions for the last two years and expect to repeat this year.
Relay teams met at Peabody
The Martha's Vineyard Regional High School boys 4x800 relay team finished fourth at Peabody in the State Coaches Relays meet Sunday at the Bishop Fenwick High School oval, with a time of 8:42.6, good enough to qualify the team for the state Division 4 track meet. Jeremy Alley, Kyle Joba Woodruff, Michael Osborn, and Michael Schroeder make up the relay team.
The Vineyard's 4x100 relay team of Randolph Jette, Jacob Lawrence, Anthony Piland and Brian Montambault finished third in 46:10.
The M.V. high jump team also took third place with a combined jump of 17' 1 ½ "
The Island's javelin team of Anthony Piland, Joe Turney, and Rafael Maciel was fifth.
The MVRHS girls shot put combo of Maggie Riseborough, Sidra Dumont, and Kaija Nivala finished third with a combined heave of 85' ½". The same threesome was fifth with the discus at 237 feet.
Maddie Penicaud, Maggie Lindland, and Mya Harcourt were fourth in the long jump.
