Sharky’s Cantina kept up with tradition this year with its Cinco de Mayo party in Edgartown on Thursday, May 5. Revelers were treated to free food from fried dough to hot dogs, as well as passed appetizers and a buffet, and music from Rick Bausman and the Beetlebung Steel Drum Band. What Cinco de Mayo party would be complete without a taco-eating contest? Not this one. Mingo Abreu won, beating Eli Bonnell and Russell Hodson.
Cinco de Mayo (the fifth of May in Spanish) is primarily celebrated in the U.S. and in the Mexican state of Puebla, since the date marks the anniversary of The Battle of Puebla in 1862.
